SCIENCE FAIR SUCCESS
By Yash (IB1)

Fun, adrenaline nervousness; all of these were just a fraction of the numerous feelings that we felt at the 6th annual SAIS Science Fair.

On February 18, 6 groups from GIS went to participate in the St Andrews Science Fair; including groups from Years 8, 9, and IB.

The spectacular day, which started with some fun but challenging activities, ended with an awards’ ceremony in which Year 9 students Ashcharya, Chan and Miheer won second prize (they were awarded prize money, toy truck, and souvenirs) for their project on how to create electricity using salt water.

Excellent ABRSM Results
Secondary students took a range of ABRSM Music Exams in November last year and the results are now in! All students passed with Merit or Distinction gaining scores of above 120 of above 130 out of 150.

Secondary students helped celebrate Chinese New Year with dumplings, dim sum and dance.

During the day, students wore red to mark the start of the Year of the Monkey and the school was decorated with paper lanterns.

In the evening, the Languages’ Department organised a spectacular evening that included traditional Chinese dance, song and fireworks! There was also a raffle, where Chinese-style prizes were handed out, and several teachers gave a demonstration of the ancient art of sword-fighting.
Students display their martial arts skills!
GIS teachers put on a fearsome display of traditional Chinese sword fighting.
Secondary students performed an elegant Chinese fan dance.
